Neapolitan tailoring style, that is increasingly in demand and more and more famous among the gentlemen worldwide, was born in the shadow of Mount Vesuvius few centuries ago.

The Neapolitan tailoring school was born in 1351, when the Confraternita dei Sartori was founded in the church of Sant’Eligio al Mercato. Naples was then the rich capital of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, an important socio-economic centre. The tailors used to have their customers, but it was in 1800 that the Neapolitan sartorial production was able to capture the aesthetic interest of kings and heads of state, thanks to the flair and exceptional manual skills of Neapolitan tailors. Indeed, after conquering its own space by initially imitating the Anglo-Saxon models, starting from ‘900, Neapolitan tailoring starts developing its own identity, the one that will make the Neapolitan tailoring style so well-know and appreciated worldwide.

In contrast to English tailoring with its strict bespoke rules, a Neapolitan suit is a synonym of comfort and lightness, initially originated from the mild weather of the city of Naples, but, also, originated from the necessity of leaving the body movements free, to allow who was wearing it to gesticulate freely ad normally Italians, and moreover, Neapolitans, do.
